Musical Background

Dan has been playing guitar since the 8th grade and after a stint of guitar lessons, gave it up for a while. In Sophomore year in High School he began playing guitar again, self taught and then took up bass. Appearing in battle of the bands contests and school AFS shows with several high school friends. After high school he took up writing lyrics and vocals to his own songs and began crafting a collection of songs.

In 1984 he released a single in Milwaukee with a studio group called "Autograph" (not the L.A. band), singing, writing and playing bass, it had play on MSOE and WKTI as well as interviews and a WKTI listener party. The band never really went beyond the studio.

In 1990 Dan Wollin teamed with Oceans keyboardist Brain Nielsen and established 5/4 studios, a commercial music studio, providing music for commercials and Video with clients like Johnson Wax, Weather shield Windows, Boston Store, Wisconsin Lottery, Fisher Office furniture and Wisconsin Electric. In 1991 5/4 studios won an international television association award for "Mr. Ouch", a kids video with lyrics and vocals by Dan Wollin.

Since 1992 Dan has have written music and sound design for several websites featuring flash animation. He also has a web and print design company-Daniel Wollin Productions in Mauston, Wisconsin.
